This issue is most likely tied to all "guardian" type NPCs. Right now when they kill an NPC they will just remain stuck there in one spot and will not follow you again. You need to pull another NPC in their aggro range for them to move and attack it but again even after that they will remain stuck in place and will never follow you again.
